Prize competition
Background
A few years ago, the Council of Europe and the Swiss Federal Commission on Nutrition drew up a statement with recommendations (1, 2) on the subject of malnutrition in hospitals. This called on hospitals to create the organisational conditions for the early and targeted treatment of malnutrition / undernutrition in hospital by means of nutrition committees and nutrition teams. Awareness of malnutrition in hospitals has now increased and many hospitals have been able to implement targeted measures for the timely and adequate identification and treatment of malnourished patients.
In 2012, DRGs (Diagnosis Related Groups) were introduced in the inpatient sector. Nutritional therapy is well anchored in this, which now offers another opportunity to further develop and establish nutrition. On the other hand, more outpatient services are being demanded at the same time. Quality, efficient processes and high cost coverage are in demand.
Goals
- Promote interdisciplinary cooperation and communication in the field of nutrition
- Motivating Swiss hospitals to set up sustainable structures to combat malnutrition
- Award of a GESKES certificate and a prize
